Calcium chloride

General characteristics

  • Calcium Chloride manufactured by EFICE it is a colorless solution. It comes in liquid form in a concentration of approximately 35%, or in 60% flakes, in polystyrene bags of 25 kg in pallets of 55 bags, completing 1.375 kg per pallet.
  • Hygroscopic: Calcium Chloride absorbs moisture from the air or from the surface.
  • Deliquescent: Calcium Chloride dissolves in moisture that absorbs forming a clear solution extremely resistant to evaporation.
  • Long-duration: Calcium Chloride retains the moisture that it absorbs for an indefinite period of time.

Applications

By virtue of its properties, Calcium Chloride is used in many applications. In the chemical industry it is used as a source of calcium for the production of calcium salts. Due to its hygroscopic qualities, it is widely used as a dehumidifier for air and gases. In the construction it is used as an additive for concrete, especially in cold seasons, in order to accelerate the setting. In the paper industry, it is used to increase the strength of the network of corrugating media, providing artificial water hardness that allows the network to drain better, while improving the retention of the dye. In refrigeration, saline solutions of Calcium Chloride present a low freezing point, which is why they constitute a fundamental element in many applications. In wastewater treatment, it is an effective precipitant for the elimination of fluorides while improving the elimination of silicates by floc densification. In the same way, for the treatment of oily waste, finds application due to its ability to break oil emulsions. In the dairy industry is used in the curd of cheeses.

Packaging and Storage

Depending on the volume demanded, the solution can be delivered in bulk in tankers, or in plastic drums. The solid product is delivered in the form of flakes with a concentration of 60% in bags of 25 kg
