The timely and proper delivery of our products, which are vital for many industries in our country and the region, require a high-service standard regarding distribution and transportation logistics.

The fact that our products are dangerous goods adds further complexity, which requires our company to be constantly up-to-date with the appropriate procedures and technology.

This is why EFICE puts particular emphasis on the management of two logistic components that are essential to fulfill these requirements: Stocks infrastructure and transportation management..

Stocks

In order to ensure the continuous supply of its products under any circumstances and to prevent any mishap,EFICEhas defined a strict minimum safety stock policy, both for its raw material and its main products. This is why it has also developed an appropriate logistical infrastructure that enables this management.

This is why in the industrial complex on Route 1, EFICE has a storage capacity of sodium chloride -key raw material for the production process- of over 20,000 tons, and a storage capacity for finished products that surpasses 60 tons for liquid chlorine, over 2 million liters for caustic soda, 500,000 liters for sodium hypochlorite, 220,000 liters for hydrochloric acid, 220,000 liters for ferric chloride, and a capacity of over 10,000 m2 to store solid packaged products.

Transportation

Given the characteristics of the merchandise being transported, special emphasis must be placed on safety and protection, a natural consequence of a responsible culture regarding industrial safety in the chemical industry. All efforts regarding industrial safety and protection applied to transportation are aimed at protecting the community and the employees, while at the same time they ensure the effectiveness of the transportation of dangerous goods. This philosophy is aligned with the principles of the (Responsible CareTMTM) program EFICE adheres to. At the same time, EFICE follows the Transportation Safety Guidelines of the American Chemistry Council and the recommendations of The Chlorine Institute y CLOROSUR.

The minimum requirements for the transportation of our products, whether transported by our own vehicles, vehicles hired by us, or, in the case of products picked up from our plant, by clients or distributors, are determined by the legal requirements currently in force in our country, which can be checked on the website of the Uruguayan Ministry of Transport and Public Works ((Transport Division – Dangerous Goods). The minimum requirements for the transportation of our products, whether transported by our own vehicles, vehicles hired by us, or, in the case of products picked up from our plant, by clients or distributors, are determined by the legal requirements currently in force in our country, (Uruguayan Ministry of Transport and ( Public Works, Transport Division – Dangerous Goods), by the most rigorous recommendations from the international organizations mentioned above and by the policies of the company itself as a result of particular risk analyses.

Furthermore, each product has specific requirements, which can be seen in our website along with the relevant information for each product, or in the links at the bottom of this page. In any case, EFICE can add requirements, which are stricter than the legislation currently in force, considering the risk analyses and the evolution of the available technical information.

Chlorine transportation is particularly worth mentioning.EFICE cowns seven pieces of equipment to distribute chlorine. Over 5,000 deliveries have been carried out with them to Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Over 4.000.000 KM have been traveled with loaded equipment and just as much with the unloaded equipment, as they are used only for liquefied chlorine. The equipment is built in accordance with DOT MC133 by an ASME certified company and regular integrity checks are carried out by certified companies that issue the corresponding Certificate of Fitness. There is a strict preventive control and maintenance policy for the valves, all controlled by a computer system that issues automatic warnings to those in charge of maintenance, production, dispatch and management when it is necessary to perform maintenance on a valve, which allows for planned and smooth operations. The drivers have international licenses for the transportation of hazardous substances and have been specifically trained to handle liquid chlorine. They have safety elements such as a C-Kit, as established by The Chlorine Institute, a world-wide organization that tends to all things related to the safe manufacture, handling and transportation of chlorine. They also have a self-contained breathing apparatus for their personal protection in case they need to contain a leak.

The transportation of chlorine produced by EFICE S.A.is carried out solely by EFICE EFICE or specialized carriers that meet all the requirements mentioned above and that have been authorized byEFICE.
